Sustainable Manufacturing at Dasyc

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency definition, Sustainable manufacturing (also called sustainable design or green design) is the creation of manufactured products through economically-sound processes that minimize negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. Sustainable manufacturing also protects employee, community, and consumer safety.

During the last years Dasyc strived to make its manufacturing operations more environmentally friendly and minimize its manufacturing impact. Among the initiatives taken are the following:

  • Establishment of a recycling policy for all manufacturing materials (e.g. oil, plastics, paper etc.)
  • Cooperation with established recycling companies for the collection and handling of particular equipment and/or materials, like for example batteries, where Dasyc has associated with AFIS, a Greek non-for-profit organization which has as mission to collect and recycle all portable batteries
  • Install in the factory power efficient equipment (e.g. low-consumption lights)
  • Install a solar electricity production facility in the roof of our factory in Thiva

Lastly, all the company’s environmental initiatives, have been documented, included in the company’s procedures and certified under the ISO 14001 standard, which has been awarded to Dasyc since July 2013 and updated ever since.
